Manage Firewall

Firewall Management#

Firewalls provide centralized network security for your instances in the CANADA-1 region. Create reusable security policies that can be applied to multiple instances.

Regional Availability#

Legacy Tier - CANADA-1
Firewall Support: Available
Create up to 25 firewalls per account
Attach to legacy tier instances only
Centralized rule management
Multiple instance attachments
Full ingress/egress control
Advanced Tier Regions
Firewall Support: Not Available
Finland 1, Finland 2, Finland 3, Iceland 1
Advanced tier regions use alternative security configurations. Contact support for advanced tier security options.

Account Limits#

Maximum Firewalls: 25 per account
Once you reach this limit, you must delete unused firewalls before creating new ones.

Creating a Firewall#

Access Firewall Management
Navigate to Firewalls from the main dashboard menu

Click Create Firewall
Click the Create Firewall button in the top-right corner

Configure Firewall Details
Name (required)
Length: 3-30 characters
Allowed: Letters (a-z, A-Z), numbers (0-9), hyphens (-), underscores (_), periods (.)
Cannot start or end with hyphen or underscore
Must be unique within CANADA-1 region
Region (required)
Select: CANADA-1
Only available option for firewalls
Description (optional)
Maximum 255 characters
Add context about firewall purpose

Review and Create
Verify your configuration and click Create Firewall
The firewall appears in your firewalls list with status "SUCCESS"

Managing Firewalls#

Listing Firewalls#

View all your firewalls with filtering and sorting options.
Displayed Information:
Firewall ID and name
Description
Region (CANADA-1)
Total rules count
Number of attached instances
Creation date
Current status
Available Actions:
View firewall details
Add rules
Attach to instances
Delete firewall

Viewing Firewall Details#

Select Firewall
Click on any firewall from your firewalls list

Review Information
View complete firewall configuration:
Overview:
Firewall ID, name, description
Region and status
Creation timestamp
Rules Tab:
All configured security rules
Rule direction, protocol, ports
Remote IP ranges
Attached VMs Tab:
All instances using this firewall
Instance names and IDs
Instance status
Attachment status

Deleting a Firewall#

Verify No Attachments
Before deletion, ensure the firewall has no attached instances
If instances are attached:
Delete the firewall (auto-detaches from all instances)
Attachments are automatically removed

Initiate Deletion
Click the Delete button next to the firewall

Confirm Deletion
Review the confirmation prompt showing:
Firewall name being deleted
Warning about permanence
Click Delete to confirm

Configuration Errors#

Firewall Limit Reached
Duplicate Firewall Name
Invalid Firewall Name Format
Region Not Supported
Cannot Delete Firewall
Firewall Not Found
